Welcome to DART (Dynamic Asbestos Refresher Training)
Asbestos refresher training is required annually where people interact with asbestos, this includes non-licensed and licensed works personnel also for Asbestos Awareness when working in or on premises that contain asbestos materials.

As a long time trainer of all things asbestos, one of the biggest problems with refresher training is, what do we tell you?

If you have ever had any asbestos refresher course or been involved in asbestos works for any length of time then you’ll will know and appreciate just what we mean, how many times must you be told about the types of asbestos, where it comes from, what its used in!? We know it’s bad, we know it harms people… its asbestos!

1-11 Compliance Group Ltd have developed a new means of delivering refresher training for all categories of asbestos training, the DART (Dynamic Asbestos Refresher Training) system.

What we present here is a TNA (Training Needs Analysis) based format, basically, you're asked a series of questions, if you know the answer, what more can we tell you. Read the warning at the bottom of this page.

HSG247, the Licensed Contractors guide, Chapter 4 has a very specific focus on TNA, it states:

Paragraph A4.4.1 The most important step in choosing training is determining what is needed and ensuring that it is conducted as early as possible. Often, employers opt for too little, too late when training their employees – this leaves employees with incomplete or inappropriate skills. Conducting a TNA will allow employers to determine how many of their employees need to be trained, and what they need to be trained in.

Even more importantly is what L143 says about refresher training, I wont bore you with it here, but if you read paragraphs 264 to 268 for licensed and non-licensed and paragraphs 269 to 272 for awareness of L143 Managing and working with asbestos, the Approved Code of practice, you'll get the idea.

Basically, the TNA informs the employer what you need to know and more importantly, what the trainer needs to tell you.
Our new format. ART does this. By using the by using a series of questions, assessment, and interactive means, we can establish your level of knowledge, what you need to know, learn and be given information on.

Don’t get us wrong, this is not a turn up, pay your fee and get a certificate, in fact, after doing this, you’ll probably opt for a classroom session next year.

So, what are the benefits of using DART?

The main one is the fact that you’ll learn something, or at least you’ll identify what you didn’t know, but then be informed on what your knowledge gaps are and then provided with the information need to close those gaps.

Yes, it is defiantly cheaper that a classroom course but by no means less valuable. Also, you won’t need to travel and sit in a warm classroom, you can do this from home, on the job, even in the pub if required, all you need is the internet, an internet enabled device and patience.

The questions that you will be presented wit hare based on current guidance, regulations, law and most importantly have been created by someone with over 40 years of practical asbestos experience, not a college educated book worm, by someone who has actually stripped limpet, lagging, AIB, who has built enclosures in the middle of winter, had 4 stage failures, run companies but won the mask.

So what are you waiting for, you've read this far, ready to take the next step and get some real training, then click the button and follow the instructions.

WARNING It's not going to be for everyone

As mentioned, this is not a pay your fee get a certificate. First off, you MUST have been previously trained at the level you are looking for. DART, as the name implies, is a refresher session, as such, we require a copy of your most recent training certificate, it must be within the last 12 months, if you can't provide this or show proof of past training, then don't waste your time with DART.

Secondly, the questions are based on asbestos, they are not "general knowledge" so we wont be asking you what the height of the Eiffel Tower is or how many kilograms in a tonne, its about asbestos.

Next, getting a certificate is not instant, or guaranteed, we MUST review your answers and check your submitted documents. We will however aim to get your certificate, subject to passing the session, to you as fast as we can, but if you've done the session on a Friday evening, it may be the following Monday before you get your cert, and that also depends on if you pay your invoice. We aim for a 12 hour turnaround, but you need to help us achieve this.
If we find that you didn't match the requirements of booking on to the session, we will inform you of this and why. You will then be invited to attend our monthly face to asbestos refresher course. If accepted and you attend, we will deduct the fee paid for the DART session off the face to face session, but other than that, there are no refunds so choose wisely, once you've paid, you're committed, is this the session for you?
