Duty to Manage - New

This Asbestos Duty to Manage training course is designed for dutyholders, appointed persons, facilities managers, landlords, managing agents, employers and anyone responsible for the maintenance, repair or management of non-domestic premises. The course explains the legal duties placed on those responsible for buildings under Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and provides practical guidance on how to manage asbestos-containing materials safely, effectively and in full compliance with the law.

The training covers how to identify whether asbestos may be present, how to arrange suitable asbestos surveys, how to create and maintain an asbestos register, and how to assess the risk of exposure to asbestos fibres. Delegates will learn how to develop, implement, monitor and review an asbestos management plan, including arrangements for communicating information to employees, contractors, maintenance workers and others who may disturb asbestos during their work.

By completing the course, delegates will gain a clear understanding of the duty to manage asbestos, including the need to take reasonable steps to locate asbestos-containing materials, presume materials contain asbestos unless there is strong evidence to the contrary, keep records up to date, assess and control risks, and review management arrangements regularly. The course supports organisations in demonstrating competence, maintaining effective asbestos management systems, and protecting building users from the risk of asbestos exposure.
