This training course is designed for licensed asbestos removal operatives, delivering the knowledge and practical understanding required under Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. The syllabus is based on the training requirements detailed in Chapter 4 of HSG247 Asbestos: The Licensed Contractors' Guide and incorporates current industry best practice.
Course syllabus includes:
* Properties, types and uses of asbestos
* Health risks associated with asbestos exposure
* Asbestos legislation, licensing requirements and legal duties
* Roles and responsibilities of operatives, supervisors and management
* Risk assessments, plans of work and method statements
* Site set-up, enclosure construction and smoke testing
* Negative pressure units and other asbestos removal equipment
* Selection, use, maintenance and limitations of RPE and PPE
* Controlled asbestos removal and encapsulation techniques
* Decontamination procedures and transit routes
* Waste handling, storage, transportation and disposal
* Air monitoring, clearance procedures and analyst liaison
* Emergency procedures and incident response
* Personal hygiene requirements and exposure prevention
* Inspection, monitoring, supervision and quality assurance
* Record keeping, documentation and statutory requirements
* Practical exercises based on industry-recognised working methods and current best practice.
