This training course is designed for operatives, supervisors, and maintenance personnel who undertake work with asbestos-containing materials that fall within the scope of non-licensed work under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. The course is based on the requirements of L143: Managing and Working with Asbestos and the guidance contained within HSG210 Asbestos Essentials, including Equipment and Method Sheet EM2.

The course provides the knowledge and practical skills required to work safely with non-licensed asbestos materials and covers:

Properties, types, and health effects of asbestos exposure.
The legal requirements of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
Identification of asbestos-containing materials and likely locations.
Risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
Use of HSG210 task sheets and EM2 equipment and method guidance.
Safe work with asbestos cement, textured coatings, vinyl floor tiles, and other non-licensed materials.
Selection and use of PPE and RPE.
Personal decontamination and contamination control procedures.
Asbestos waste handling, packaging, and disposal requirements.
Emergency procedures and accidental disturbance protocols.

The course includes both theoretical and practical elements to ensure delegates can carry out non-licensed asbestos work safely, competently, and in accordance with current HSE guidance and industry best practice.
